CORPUS TRÉMULO


My artistic research of the past 5 years, as part of a part -time PhD at University of the Arts London, is an inquiry into a poetics of tremor working-with an involuntary movement such as an essential tremor (neurological condition) and re-situating it within artistic-pedagogic practice to question how it can become an epistemological, aesthetic and pedagogical motif for composing uncertainty and embodied becomings– tracing the ‘doings’ of a trembling practice. My inquiry deals with the workings of tacitness, lived artistic experience, improvisation and somatically informed anecdotal accounts as aesthetic, embodied, relational, material and language-based ways of knowing. It composes an ongoing record of tremor grounded in somatic informed movement, drawing, crochet, geological meanderings and writing.

A Corpus trémulo as a record of tremor. And as artistic, somatic, poetic, pedagogical and critical gesture that makes possible practices in tension with clarity, consistency, fluency and the knowable. In my inquiry, tremor – traditionally seen as a deficit works at becoming-generative; an attempt to reconfigure knowing not as stable, cold and distant, but as warm, messy, alive and always moving .
